Double-thick flat brush from the Purple line by Goudhaantje, with modified polyester filaments, a lacquered wooden handle with red tip and a stainless steel ferrule.
The filaments
Van Dam, the manufacturer of Goudhaantje, uses a mix of tapered and cylindrical polyester filaments specially treated for painting. They hold a lot of paint, release it in a controlled way and are soft at the tip, so you finish without brush marks. According to the manufacturer, with water-based paint these filaments have clear advantages over hog bristle: the paint does not dry into the filaments, and if you store the brush in water after use, it does not splay.
